Founded in 1773 under the name of Mühendishane-i Bahr-i Hümayun, the main purpose of the educational institution was to develop and implement weapons for the Ottoman Navy. This institution, which transformed into Istanbul Technical University with the changes in the Republican period and provided uninterrupted technical education for 226 years, has prepared research and application projects and provided consultancy services to numerous private organizations, primarily public institutions. Aiming to be a pioneer in research and application as well as education, Istanbul Technical University is taking new steps to bring its information communication infrastructure to an international level. In order to achieve this goal, connections have been established with foreign scientific research institutions and many international projects have been carried out in partnership with world universities.
